The billing problem nobody warns you about

Teaching is not the hard part of tutoring. Remembering that the Tuesday family paid for eight sessions in February and has had nine is the hard part, and it is where the money quietly leaks.

Recording the term as an instalment plan and each session as an appointment makes the two countable against each other. The period comparison card then shows sessions completed alongside income for the same range.

Who pays is not always who attends

• The client record is the payer — usually the parent
• The student name lives as a custom field on the same record
• Session notes on the appointment: what was covered, what to prepare
• Tags for level, subject or group

Terms, not months

Education runs on terms and school holidays, so the standard monthly report is the wrong shape. The custom date range lets you report a term, and compare it against the same term last year rather than against last month.
